Kevin Wilbur first caught the hot air ballooning bug in 1995 when he moved to Tucson and volunteered to crew for a local company. Since then he has immersed himself in the profession, training with some of the country's finest pilots, including award-winning pilots Jeff Gilles and Mike Fleury. As an FAA certified commercial pilot, he is also an instructor for student pilots in Taos and Tucson. He competes in many various balloon festivals including Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and Chihuahua's Fiesta del Globo.
He has flown in Taos, NM for 12 years for both Pueblo Balloons and Paradise Balloons, and now under his own company Taos Balloon Rides. In the winter months, he flies commercially in Tucson, Arizona with his top-rated company Tucson Balloon Rides. Kevin has been piloting balloons since 2002 and has logged over 2000 hours/flights.
Kevin lives in Taos June-September and in Tucson October-May with his wife and two children.
